Digital Transformation in Institutions: Lecture at the Syrian Ministry of Public Works and Housing

In collaboration with the Syrian Initiative for Expertise and Development in Sweden, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing held a lecture titled “Digital Transformation and Cloud Services: A Gateway for Syrian Enterprises to Regional and Global Markets.”

The session took place at the Ministry’s headquarters and was delivered by engineer Wael Al-Issa, a member of the Initiative. The lecture explored several key areas including the strategy and goals of digital transformation, the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems enhanced by artificial intelligence, and the role of cloud-based solutions in institutional development. The session also examined the impact of these technologies on employee performance, managerial efficiency, and long-term competitiveness and sustainability.

Engineer Al-Issa emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional but a necessity for institutional progress. He highlighted the importance of integrated digital systems in ensuring secure data synchronization and noted Syria’s potential, with professionals capable of innovation and adaptation in line with global developments.

Deputy Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Mary Al-Talli, explained to SANA News that the purpose of the lecture was to explore how digital transformation can enhance citizen services. She pointed to ongoing ministry projects such as the “Cooperative Housing Platform” as examples of digital progress.

In a separate statement, Mohamad Barhamji, Vice Chairman of the Initiative, shared that following Syria’s liberation, the Initiative began engaging with ministries and public bodies to understand their challenges in digital transformation. They compiled a knowledge base drawing from over 2,000 Syrian experts abroad across various fields. The Initiative now acts as a bridge between this expertise and public institutions.

The Syrian Initiative for Expertise and Development focuses on organizing voluntary programs to support communities in need, improve living conditions, and promote collaborative dialogue around economic and social progress.
